What is ReudHome…

In June 2021, my husband, Ramiro/Ro, and I uprooted our family from Los Angeles to Northern Colorado and purchased a 5,500 sq ft 80’s tudor home. The previous owners kept it in pristine condition, but it’s outdated and in need of some major changes to the layout and overall aesthetic. Ro’s companies are keeping him busy enough, so we agreed that I would begin undertaking the renovation myself… This is how ReudHome was born.

ReudHome is not an interior design firm or a before and after blog. This is a watch as I learn and share, make mistakes and take risks type of blog. I’m not a professional contractor, however, I am married to a pretty incredible one ;) So, with his knowledge and an abundance of tools (and a bit of YouTube), I am taking you on a journey of what works and what doesn’t, when to do it yourself and when to hire the professional, diy and all things design.

Ro and I have previously purchased, gutted, re-designed and sold two homes, but didn’t document much of those adventures (kicking myself now) - but of course I’ll share what I do have. And I’m getting it right this time! So, for anyone else interested in all things design and build, I have created this space for knowledge, inspiration and community - and maybe a few laughs or eyerolls at my skills/lack of.

I know you’ve heard it a million times, love where you live. And I feel like that should be obvious. But sometimes, whether it’s budget, circumstantial, etc we can find ourselves in situations that create a distaste for the place we call home. However, home should make you feel comfortable, safe, create emotion and more. To us a home means a lot - to us it means family, friends, memories, shelter, investment - just to name a few. A home is a place we come to rest, play, spend time with our closest. A home can have different meanings, but one thing should be the same for everyone… You should love your home!

Meet Kim

Originally from Georgia, I moved to Los Angeles in 2006. There I began a career in fashion, working retail as a visual merchandiser and buyer for boutiques and large corporations. Through those experiences, my private wardrobe styling company was born in 2009. Over these last 12 years, I not only built a business that I love, but also built relationships with amazing and inspiring people.

As a young girl, I remember bingeing HGTV and shows like What Not to Wear… Having a creative outlet has always been in my blood haha and I always knew I would find a way to work with design - fashion or interiors. So, here I am!

OUR STORY

Ro and I met in February 2012 at a coffee shop in Los Angeles. We went to a romantic comedy, had burgers at a local spot and sat in his super cool kidnapper van for hours talking and laughing. We basically hung out nonstop after that and got engaged in March 2015 (over our 3 year anniversary Hawaii trip). We married in the most magical ceremony at a private home on the cliffs of Malibu in December 2015. In December 2017, we welcomed our baby girl, Brin. And in October 2020, we welcomed our baby boy, Leon. Oh, and we also have 2 dogs :) A Shar Pei and Cane Corso Mastiff.

Why Colorado or what brought us here? Over the course of our time together, we went on many roadtrips. Some of those were purely just camping and exploring and some were multi-day rafting trips. We spent some time in Colorado during those explorations and felt like this is where we’d end up one day. With everything going on in the world, especially in LA over the last couple of years we felt it was time to start figuring out our next move. And at the beginning of 2021 some doors opened for us here in CO, so we made the move in June… and so far WE LOVE IT!

Where did the name “ReudHome” come from? These two littles are my everything and Reud is just a combination of their middle names.
